How to Support Breast Cancer Awareness

Ladies, October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month. If you want to get involved and support the research, here’s how to do so.

Did you know that 1 in 8 women may be affected by breast cancer in her lifetime? According to the Breastcancer.org, that is the number two cancer killer of women.

There are tons of great initiatives going on to raise both awareness and funds about this disease that affects so many women around the world.

Get a Screening

Screening tests are used to find breast cancer before it causes any warning signs or symptoms. Screening tests can find breast cancer early, when the chances of survival are highest.

Regular screening tests (along with follow-up tests and treatment if diagnosed) reduce your chance of dying from breast cancer.

Check Yourself! App to Learn How to Self-Feel

Launched by the Keep a Breast Foundation, the Check Yourself mobile app aims to teach young women the best way to self-test. It is often ignored, but auto-palpation can now detect 40% of breast cancers. Free, the app is available on the Apple store and on Android.
